I came across this
Olivaceous Piculet nest today, with both adults in attendance, making the hole ready for the breading season. This is a miniature woodpecker measuring only 10 cm. In keeping with the small theme, I also saw my first
Scaly-breasted Wren today; no larger than a goldcrest, with an almost non-existent tail which does not extend past its primaries. An
Ochraceous Pewee was also new today.

This
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher is the most common migratory
Empidonax flycatcher in the area.
 |
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher - note the yellowish tinged underparts and throat which distinguishes it from other migratory empids. |
